Her mother died when she was only 5 leaving her with her abusive and alcholic father that kept abusing and hitting her.She is nowdays quite cold to guys touching her and would start freak out if she is backed in a close space with a guy.Her grandmother keeps her around her place,so Chie prefers to stay there and never see her father.He does have a restriction in seeing her but he still visits her at school and sometimes even tries to bully her in front of the others.Last time that happend,he tugged on her hair and slapped her across the fact in front of the whole school.

Other then that her life is quite simple and without that much fun until she meet Suzume and befriend her.
